Bonsai United is a comparative exhibition exploring a remarkable human phenomenon: across continents, climates, and cultures, people dedicate their lives to cultivating miniature trees. By placing regional approaches side-by-side, the exhibition reveals how a shared practice—care, observation, and creating meaning through living form—manifests differently depending on local landscape, native flora, cultural practices, and the passage of time.
Bonsai United features perspectives from 15 traditions, with each section featuring practitioners who define contemporary bonsai in their regions and speak for themselves about their own approaches to creating meaning through living form.
